I went bowling last night for the first time in a while. I had a great time, and I had some okay games.
While I was there, I saw so many things that made me angry. Here they are:
1.) If there are four of you bowling on one lane, you probably don't need two balls per person. Pick one, and use it.
2.) Rolling the ball so that it hits the pins just after the pin sweeper goes up, is not only disrespectful, but isn't, nor has it ever been, funny.
3.) If you are an insecure girl, who is too scared to actually try a normal approach before throwing the ball, stay at home, or just watch your idiot boyfriend bowl from the sidelines.
4.) Walking up to the beginning of the lane and dropping the ball, isn't bowling. The ball isn't meant to go less than one mile per hour. And yes, that's why you didn't knock over any pins even though it wasn't a gutter ball.
5.) If you are there with your boy/girlfriend, I don't want to see you make out between frames...or ever for that matter.
6.) If you're waiting for the pins to reset, sit down, relax. DON"T effing wait on the approach! It's rude, and it makes me uncomfortable.
7.) If you refuse to wear the bowling alley shoes, guess what, you probably aren't going to want to use the balls they have there either. So don't bitch and moan about how gross the shoes are, because everything there is gross. If you're too good for the shoes you should probably spend your nights somewhere else.
8.) Just because your ball hooks like the pros, doesn't mean you're any good.
9.) I know I have amazing skills, but pointing and staring are both rude.
10.) Finally, and most importantly, when someone else is about go (throw the ball), don't run up there and go at the same time. It's rude! Wait your effing turn! I waited mine.
Okay, now that I've gotten those things off my chest I feel a lot better. I hope they made sense, but I also don't really care if they didn't, because I know what I mean. I also hope you learned a little something about proper bowling etiquette.
This blog is dedicated to things that bother me, things that I find fascinating, and pretty much anything else I might have to say.

Ode to Oscar
This is a poem I wrote a little over a year ago about my cat Oscar. I've had it posted on Myspace for some time now, but I thought I would share it with all of you. Enjoy!
I have a cat named Oscar,
and he is really fat.
He'll eat anything including lard,
and other things like that.
He only seems to be really happy
when he is being fed,
although he also gets enjoyment,
from peeing on my bed.
I think I've figured out
Why he is such a bother...
I'm pretty sure or at least i'm told...
his uncle is also his father

Procrastination is the key to success
I have two tests tomorrow, and as usual I have put off studying until the day before. I know it doesn't seem like enough time to study 8 chapters worth of material, but I've been using this system for about....well, my whole life. It's gotten me this far, so I figure I'll continue with the same pattern until the very end. Hmmm...maybe thats why I've been in college for 6 years?
So I'm studying by answering questions on review sheets given by the professors. I know what you're thinking, and you would be correct, college students are pretty much bottle fed the information we need to learn. At least at San Diego State. I remember in high school, they would do the same thing, but constantly told us it wouldn't be so easy in college. Thank God they were wrong or I probably wouldn't have made it this far.
Anyway, as I was saying, I am answering questions on review sheets given by the professors. They are both about 25 questions. . . or so it seems. It is so annoying when they give you like five questions in one question! It's deceitful and wrong! I know I shouldn't be complaining, they are pretty much just giving me the answers to the test, but it really irritates me when I end up spending 20 minutes on one question. Sorry, I just had to vent.
It is also irritating when you are trying to study and your sisters cats realize that the most comfortable place to take a nap is on top of all your papers or, that your pen is a cool new toy. It is also difficult to study when there are so many other things you could be doing. For example, instead of studying I could be staring at a wall, or counting flys, and have a lot more fun doing it!
Needless to say the constant battle of sitting down to study or stare at the wall is almost over. I'm sure one day I will miss it, or wish I were still in school. At least that's what people keep telling me. I think my brother has been the only person to say that he doesn't, nor has he ever missed it. However, going to school is definitely easier than figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life.

What to say?
It's been a while since I posted so I sort of feel obligated to put something down.
It was my half birthday 2 days ago (April 14) so I am officially 24 and a half. A milestone I'm sure most of you remember or, perhaps, are looking forward to. I still look about 18 years old though, which is hard sometimes. It seems like just yesterday I could pass for 12.
I also bought a guitar this month and although I enjoy it, it can also be frustrating at times. A friend of mine is teaching me, so I don't have to pay for lessons, which is nice. The guitar I bought is an acoustic-electric Ibanez. It came in a kit which also had an amp, and other guitar essentials. I recommend purchasing one if you have ever been interested in learning. It's never too late. I don't want to be a rockstar or anything, but, it will probably happen anyway because as it turns out, I'm pretty much amazing at everything I do. I am also very modest, as you can tell.
This last weekend I went to Ventura to visit my friend who was also coming for a visit as well as my parents. I didn't tell my parents I was coming, mostly out of laziness, but also so they wouldn't have to be extremely anxious for my arrival.
While I was there I put my parents to work. My dad fixed my car (replaced the brakes, and belts) and my mom did some sewing for me. I would like to take this time to publicly thank them for helping me with those things. I greatly appreciate it, even though my car still shakes violently when I hit the brakes. Which is not my dads fault, I was just hoping that new brakes would fix the problem. No worries though, he is going to help with that next time I visit.
Finally, I would like to say that in just four weeks I will be graduating from college. I can't wait to be done, and am accepting gifts which can be sent to my sisters address (Amanda, not Melissa). Seriously though, I need some advice. My friend wants me to move to Reno when I am finished. She says we will move away from there in October, but I'm worried that I will get stuck there. I want to move to Seattle, but I'm a little scared to do it alone. Should I risk it, or just take the easy way out? Any advice you have to offer will be considered with an open mind, unless it's really stupid (which goes without saying I guess). I don't want to live in California anymore because I have lived here my whole life. In fact I have only lived in Southern California. I know I have been spoiled with the perfect weather and what not, but I am ready to explore other states as well as different weather.

Just 8 years ago...
Just 8 years ago today, I received my drivers license. It was a great day for me, and a scary day for my parents. Over the last eight years of driving on the roads, I have only received one speeding ticket, only destroyed one car (without hurting anyone I might add), only received one ridiculous ticket...which I fought...and sort of won, and gone through three cars.
First there was my BMW. That's right a BMW. She was a reddish-orange, 1984 automatic 318i. I loved her very much. Unfortunately after 6 months of driving her she commited suicide. I guess she just couldn't go on living any longer. It was a misty day when she died. We were going to school, and driving on a windy road. The pavement was wet, and her wheels just couldn't handle it. So she ended her life. Don't worry, she protected me until the end. I was fine. A little shocked, and sad, but I was okay. She ran herself into a wall by the way. She took control of the wheel, did a 180, and ran into a wall. The reddish-orange marks are still there if you look close enough. I will always remember and miss her.
Then there was my Jeep. I HATED him. On the drive home from the dealership he ran out of gas. Then when we arrived home, his radiator busted. The gas gauge didn't work, the rearview mirror broke off, and he had a weird smell that I thought I could get rid of, but never did. After having him for six months, I was fed up! I put him up for sale the day after I bought my next car. He didn't sell. Nobody wanted him, and I don't blame them. He was a terrible car...it should have been him that hit the wall! Finally I traded him to get a motorcycle for my brother. I saw him a couple times...at the community college, and I prayed for his current owner. I don't miss him at all!
Finally, there is my current vehicle. We've been through a lot together. From five years of payments, to a broken air conditioner. He's always been good to me. I only had trouble with him once, and that was my fault, I should have gotten him a new battery sooner, but I forgot. He even went to Mexico, got completely trashed and came back. I guess he just missed me too much. I think we will be together for a long time (knock on wood).
So thats my driving past. It's been a good eight years, hopefully it will continue that way.

I've made a huge mistake
oh, hello. The title of this post is actually a quote from "Arrested Development". If you haven't watched that show, I highly suggest that you do, and don't just watch one episode, it takes two or three to really get into it. Bottom Line, it's a great show!
So what's new with me you ask? Well, not a whole lot. Yesterday I received my degree evaluation, and for those of you who don't know what that is, it basically tells me what courses I need to graduate. Good news, I can officially say this is my last semester! Unless of course I fail one of the classes. I only have a month and a half to go, and right now I'm on spring break...yeeeeaaaaa.
What else?...Oh!...I got a belated Easter Basket last Thursday night. Apparently the Easter Bunny was so grateful for the career advice (see last post) I gave him, he made a special trip. The coolest thing in the basket was the frog puppet. His name is Rupert. I wish I had a picture to show you, but unfortunately my digital camera is MIA.
My brother recently moved 3,000 miles away. My family and I had a little goodbye dinner with him at the Yardhouse in Long Beach. I had a headache on the way there so I decided to get a big ol' drink to get rid of it. I was drunk after about half, because I rarely drink and it was pretty strong. Then I spilled the other half by knocking it over with my menu. Luckily my sister let me have the rest of her drink which was the same thing I had been drinking. I was pretty much drunk the whole dinner, and received my hangover on the way home. My plan had back fired on me, the headache I had earlier came back, only it was 10 times worse the second time around. Lesson Learned.
Last night my sisters best friend growing up came to visit. We drank, we ate, and we played WII. Oliver (my sisters cat) also ate some of the food that was prepared, 20 minutes later it came right back up. So that was fun.
It's starting to get busier at Boston's (the place I work) so I'm starting to make a little more money, which is always good. Other than that, not much going on. I hope you've enjoyed reading this and not leaving a comment.

I met the Easter Bunny
Saturday night I went to bed thinking of nothing but what the Easter Bunny might leave me. I usually get a chocolate bunny that I never eat, a bunch of other candy (that I do eat, which gives me a stomach ache, and some sort of stuffed animal. Usually the stuffed animal is a bunny, but one year I got the coolest clown.
I finally fell asleep at around 1 am. I was abruptly awoken at around 3 am when I heard my door open and my stainless steel trash can fall over. I said "whos there?" No response. I was freaking out! When I could finally see clearly there was a big white fluffy bunny standing over me. It scared the begeezies out of me!
When I finally calmed down because he had assured me who he was and what he was doing, I asked him why he woke me up. He said he didn't do it on purpose, but as long as I was up he had a few questions for me. I politely replied, "ask away". He started out by apologizing because he had brought nothing for me. Apparently he didn't know that I had moved from my old apartment in Mira Mesa to my sister's house in San Marcos. I said "no problem, I'm sure my mom will get me something". He thanked me for being so forgiving. I said "you're welcome, now how can I help you?"
He told me he had heard that I want to become a professional bowler. Then he asked me if I thought he could make it in the same business. I was shocked...I mean...The EASTER BUNNY came to ME for career advice! I asked him what was wrong with his current business of delivering beautiful candy filled baskets to ungrateful little children. He told me that with the world of technology growing faster and faster he had a lot of trouble getting into peoples houses without an alarm going off. He said he had already been attacked by the police three times that night. They wouldn't let him go until they saw his ID, and were given really great baskets filled with coffee and donuts.
I couldn't believe it. I told him I was sorry he was going through such a difficult time, but I didn't really see him as a professional bowler. I explained to him the importance of opposable thumbs for playing the sport. He began to cry. I didn't know what to do. I tried to think of other things he could do...I even suggested working for Santa Clause, but he said he had already tried that.
Finally, I thought of the best possible solution. I told him he could use technology to his advantage. Instead of delivering all the baskets himself, he could mail them to the parents. That way there is no breaking and entering involved, and he won't be seen by kids that stay up way past there bed time to try and catch him. All in all everything turned out well, he was excited about getting home and renovating his business. He also left my sister and her Husband an extra generous basket, and told me if the whole bowling career thing didn't work out for me, then he would be happy to offer me a full time job with great pay, plus benefits!
And that my friends is how I saved Easter.
